Hi, I’m Amy

I believe strongly in the power of connection. Connections are not only necessary to thrive, but also to survive. I use the power of connection with my clients as a catalyst to help healing begin. That’s why I named my practice Bright Connections; I hope to be one of many bright connections in the lives of those I work with.

I offer a compassionate, pragmatic, non-judgmental approach and often use humor when working with clients. The modalities I use are research-backed, but I won’t fill our sessions with psychology jargon. I’m trained in EMDR and often use it for PTSD symptoms and to help others with any problem that might be impacting their life including anxiety and shame.

I show up with warmth, honesty, and deep respect for your lived experience. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of where to start. That’s why I’m here: to walk alongside you as you make sense of your feelings and experiences and begin to reconnect with yourself.

How did I get here?

I grew up not really feeling like I fit in or understanding who I was; however, I have always had a deep interest in people; why they do the things they do, and hearing their stories. This lead to studying Advertising and Sociology at Texas State University and then a career in sales where I used my genuine curiosity about people to build relationships. After 6 years in the profession, though, I was burnt out and unfulfilled. Following my own experience in therapy I realized I was in the wrong career and wanted to make a change and help people.

Throughout my master’s program and since I have enjoyed working with folks with various levels of trauma histories, anxiety, and those falling under the neurodiversity umbrella. I find I also really enjoy working with kiddos who were like me growing up; anxious, unsure of themselves, or “different”.

In my spare time I enjoy being with my family, going out in nature, or cuddling up with a bowl of ice cream and a good TV show or book.
