ADHD and Affirming Therapy
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects many aspects of daily life. While ADHD can present challenges at school, work, and in relationships, it is also associated with creativity, innovation, and unique problem-solving skills.
ADHD is more than just trouble paying attention. It can affect focus, organization, impulse control, and managing day-to-day demands. For children, teens, and adults, ADHD can bring challenges at school, work, and in relationships—but it also comes with unique strengths like creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking.
Because the world isn’t always designed with ADHD brains in mind, many people end up feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or “not enough.” Over time, this can lead to frustration, shame, or self-doubt.

At Bright Connections Counseling, I use an affirming, neurodiversity-informed approach. That means I don’t look at ADHD as something to “fix,” but instead:
Build understanding of how your brain works.
Develop strategies that fit your strengths and daily life
Work through feelings of shame, frustration, or being misunderstood.
Highlight and celebrate the creativity and resilience that come with ADHD.
Therapy provides a supportive space to feel seen and understood, while also giving practical tools to make life more manageable. My goal is to help you or your child move beyond labels and struggles, and toward a fuller sense of confidence, balance, and self-acceptance
